Job purpose:
To engage organisations and professionals that work with women and girls on the topic of
gambling related harm. The role will contribute to reducing gambling-related harms through
stakeholder engagement and delivery of GamCare’s staff training sessions.
Training and Engagement Leads will work closely with partner organisations to share
knowledge and understanding about how women’s issues intersect with gambling related
harm and to ensure that more women and girls are able to access treatment and support.
They will work with organisations to build robust referral and signposting pathways from
participants to GamCare services. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and
friendly programmes team working across Britain.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Core
Establish the reputation of the GamCare Women’s Programme and champion the
programme in settings across the region.
Be a point of contact for people interested in GamCare’s Women’s project in the
region and build a network of local interested organisations that work with women and
girls in order to share knowledge, support and expertise.
Promote, arrange and deliver a range of activities to women-facing professionals (e.g.
social worker, support workers) in the region. Activities will include networking events,
disseminating information resources, training sessions in gambling related harm,
identification and brief advice.
Deliver Brief Intervention to Women impacted by gambling related harm.
Support learning and knowledge sharing across everyone involved who works with
women and girls, to ensure that all support services are enhanced to better meet the
needs of service users.
Maintain accurate records and provide statistical information required to assist delivery
and evaluation.
Form part of the delivery team for this programme and attend Project Group meetings
on a regular basis, contributing ideas, information, knowledge and feedback coming
from and about your region and suggestions for improvements/amendments to
content and strategy.
Understand responsibilities to safeguarding, promoting women’s welfare in relation to
all advice, support, interventions and services described above.
Communications and relationships:
Communicate effectively, sensitively and empathetically, being aware of the issues
that partners working with these cohorts are addressing and ensuring practice is
sensitive to the diverse needs of all individuals.
Communicate effectively and maintain positive and supportive working relationships
with clients, colleagues and professionals from other backgrounds.
Champion the Women’s Programme, GamCare Services and the subject of gambling
related harms across a range of regional stakeholders and be a point of reference for
local services looking to develop their knowledge and understanding of the issue.
Liaise directly with GamCare’s local services in the region and ensure the referral
pathway into the service is understood and articulated to trainees.
Undertake other duties and responsibilities in keeping with the nature of this post as
maybe required from time to time e.g. giving information to local news agencies and
supporting colleagues in other regions to deliver work.
Person Specification: Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Essential
Knowledge
Demonstrable understanding of stakeholder engagement
Knowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practice
Knowledge of risks and impacts of mental health issues / addictions and understanding
of issues affecting women
Knowledge of learning and development approaches and tools
Experience
Experience of delivering presentations and/or training products to multiple
stakeholders in person or digitally
Experience promoting services and engaging specific audiences
Experience of working with vulnerable people
Experience in championing services and demonstrating authority and expertise
Skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage and work with a wide range of
stakeholders, including local communities from a diverse range of backgrounds
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
Ability to present evidence and contribute at meetings and events
Excellent IT skills, including data entry
Genuine interest in creating positive change for women

Desirable
Understanding of addictions and/or gambling related harms
Experience of delivering brief advice and brief intervention to individuals affected by
addictions in general or gambling related harms
Training qualification
Support work qualification
