The governors are looking to recruit an experienced HLTA to lead and develop our year 7 nurture group.

We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced and motivated HLTA. The successful candidate will have the necessary skills to provide support for pupils, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all by planning, monitoring, assessing and managing the group. You will also utilise your specialist SEND knowledge and skills to coach, mentor and support colleagues and contribute to the overall provision of SEND alongside the SENDCo. The role may also involve some in class support.

The key purpose of the role is to lead on the provision of high quality care and academic support for a small group of pupils with a range of needs. The nurture group provides a link between primary and secondary curriculum with a clear focus on raising standards in literacy and numeracy. In order to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, students in the nurture group also access a range of other subjects areas during their sessions.

The person appointed will:

Welcome, support and contribute to the Catholic ethos of the school
Have a passion for inclusion
Have a knowledge the primary curriculum and the delivery of key skills in literacy and numeracy
Be able to work with other leaders across the school to enable a coordinated approach to provision
Have had experience of nurture group provision
Be skilled at relating well to children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties
Be able to work proactively, independently, and also as part of a school team

The role is 37 hours per week, term time and is subject to references for at least 6 months.
