This is a part-time role (mornings only to 12.30pm) – equivalent to 0.5 contract.
The post will be paid on the Main Pay Scale on a pro-rata basis, plus pro-rata SEN allowance.
Required from the start of Summer Term 2021; the Governors and Headteacher wish to appoint an enthusiastic, imaginative and inspirational teacher, who is passionate about working with children with special needs in a Mainstream setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and specialised teacher to work with a small group of children with varying needs (Autism Spectrum and Hyperactivity needs) in a part-time role.
This will involve being part of setting up a Nurture Provision for morning learning (approximately 10 children), under the close supervision of the existing SENCO and the senior leadership team. The role will be supported by two skilled teaching assistants.
The appointment will be initially temporary for 12 months. We anticipate that the successful candidate will not be a new or recently qualified teacher (unless you are an SEN specialist), and we encourage applications from teachers currently working in Special Schools and/or those who are passionate and have experience of working with children with additional needs.
Evidence of previous experience and strong practice with SEN is an essential requirement for the successful applicant. Ensuring excellent progress for all children and a good transition to the next part of their learning journey is of the highest importance to the school.
We wish to appoint a team player who has a solid understanding of how young children learn, excellent communication skills and who enjoys teaching and being with children. A sense of humour, sense of resilience and an understanding of how best to communicate with parents and carers is essential.
