The Role
The Tesla Direct Procurement team is looking to hire a skilled Supply Operations Manager (SOM) to manage the entire purchasing process for an assigned group of Tesla vehicle products. You are involved in the development process for new products from an early stage along with leading change management of existing products. You are the link between external suppliers and internal customers. You work closely with the Global Supply Managers in the US who are responsible for the procurement of commodities in their global regions. You are also the reference person for Engineering and Material Planning teams on product groups in your scope.
Responsibilities
Responsible for analyzing supplier quote proposals, making data-driven recommendations of supplier selection and carry out specific negotiations on supply to meet program timing. This is done by focusing on global commodity strategy, quality, specification, price, and reliability of supply.
Manage and report on sourcing status of new products, communicate across groups to remedy a risk in part readiness or supplier response to program timing. Ideal candidate would utilize program management skills and a big-picture mindset to call out risks and add value as the link between supply chain, design engineering, and manufacturing.
Based on key performance indicators, you work alongside Global Supply Managers to demand continuous improvement from suppliers in scope.
Work collaboratively with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams
You support new projects and understand your specific supply chain inputs that adding value to the operational level continuity of Tesla manufacturing

Requirements
You live and breathe vehicle parts procurement and project management! You have a drive to make sure that all assigned programs are fully under control for Gigafactory Austin set-up and growth. You have a vision, and you are not afraid to execute on that!
You possess a Bachelors’ Degree in an area of expertise of Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Project Management, Engineering, or Business Management.
Up to 3 years’ experience in a purchasing and supply chain, engineering, commercial sales or related field and have a thorough understanding of automotive vehicle OEM products and/or Tier component supply. As a Supply Operations Manager, within the Global Supply Chain department, you must have relevant technical skills, as you will be engaging with engineers and suppliers. You may also have gained this technical experience in a different role, for example as a Process Engineer or Product Engineer
