JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this entry-level position is responsible for basic accounting work associated with processing check requests and accounts payable entries, posting cash receipts and journal entries, posting interface general ledger entries and basic analysis and reconciliation tasks. This positon reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager.
ESSENTIAL ROLES & RESPONSIBLITIES
Performs batching of cash receipts and enters cash receipts data into the accounting system.
Performs basic balancing of cash receipts and related transactions.
Performs basic account analysis and reconciliation.
Reviews general ledger accounts and prepares basic journal entries.
Processes check requests and accounts payable invoices by reviewing invoices for appropriate documentation, coding to proper expense account, and processing payments.
Tracks pension system benefit payroll activities. Controls stop payments and reviews positive pay exceptions in banking software. Posts pension system interfaces.
Analyzes, reconciles, and records accounting transactions for small retirement systems. Follows up with appropriate staff to resolve processing problems or delays.
Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with policy and accepted accounting practices.
Organizes and summarizes accounting data and transactions and prepares relevant spreadsheets and reports.
Performs other duties and special tasks as needed to support divisional work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 1 year of demonstrated work experience in accounting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Solid planning, organizational, and time management skills.
Solid interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
