The Division of Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research is currently accepting applications for a Software Developer II position. Under general supervision of the Division’s senior development team and project managers, the Software Developer II performs full-stack web application design and development. Work includes mid-level applications software development and user support. The Software Developer II designs, documents, develops, modifies, installs, tests, implements, and supports new and existing applications software.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assist with and/or design, write, test, debug, and maintain software applications with mission-critical or enterprise-wide impact, ensuring that the applications meet technical and functional requirements.
Design and develop efficient, effective applications through optimal use of components, including reusable components and application frameworks.
Ensure that applications comply with regulatory requirements and are consistent with current and planned infrastructure and data environments.
Provide technical guidance in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining programs, including guidance to less experienced co-workers and student employees.
Follow strong coding standards, properly document project details, requirements, and procedures needed to produce a working and easily maintainable code base and will work with team members to review code and discuss design plans.
Translate and interpret functional requirements and assist with requirement analyses as well as implement project management tasks for small projects.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Competency in modern (ES6+) JavaScript
Experience with standard and emerging JavaScript toolsets such as Node.js, Webpack, and React
Experience using Git source control
Experience working with various database systems such as MS SQL Server or Oracle
Front-end web development experience
Experience with at least one web development back-end framework

Preferences:
Familiarity with Web mapping APIs (Google, Esri, Leaflet, etc.)
Experience with responsive web design
Competency in Windows Operating System. Familiarity with other OSs
Programming experience in computer science, geospatial, engineering, or a related field

Salary and Benefits
65k annually. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
