Eater covers local restaurant news, reports on national food trends, and provides service through travel guides, cooking content, documentary-style video, and social-first stories, as well as live events.

We’re seeking a Social Media Manager who can help execute a strategy to promote and amplify our most ambitious journalism in the tone and editorial sensibility of Eater.

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for creating and publishing daily social content, growing and engaging with the Eater community, and working closely with Eater’s Associate Director of Audience, Platforms.

Responsibilities:

Grow audience, reach, and traffic on social platforms
Write social copy for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and more
Optimize headlines for social and search
Package and translate Eater’s most ambitious journalism for social platforms
Work with Eater’s audience development director, city editors, and Eater.com editorial team to occasionally develop social content and promote editorial packages off-platform
Analyze and interpret traffic data, developing best practices and finding trends as they emerge
Collaborate with Eater editors to identify opportunities for social content related to our journalism
Stay up-to-date with best practices, current technologies and trends in social media and communicate them back to the Eater editorial team

What you’ll bring:

Prior experience growing an audience on social media
Strong writing and editing skills, impeccable attention to detail, and an intolerance for errors
Strong visual eye and an understanding of Eater’s tone and voice
Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Premiere, Photoshop)
Ability to concisely explain a complicated news story on social platforms

Qualifications:

1-3 years of social media experience
Experience in food or news media
Interest in the food/restaurant beat and a curiosity to learn more about it

This role is a part of the Vox Media Union, represented by the Writers Guild of America, East.
