DEFINITION: The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to facilitate and disseminate the timely release of information through a variety of avenues to inform the public, Commission, and staff about the City news, events, activities and programs. This job/class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. This job/class works independently and in a team environment. Evening and weekend work hours may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive): Creates and executes a consistent schedule of social media posts, working with City staff across departments to promote news, events, activities, programs, and resources resulting in a dynamic, interactive social media presence. Implements social media and content campaigns for emergency notices. Engages social media followers through direct messages, post replies, retweets, and comments, maintaining a positive customer service mindset in all interactions. Responds promptly and helpfully to inquiries received through social media, email, phone, and other methods. Identifies target audiences and develops social media marketing plans to reach them. Conducts social listening to measure audience engagement, interests, and trends. Utilizes analytical tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights to monitor and evaluate the City’s social media presence and performance. Provides monthly reports to administrators on account analytics and makes strategic recommendations based on statistics. Cultivates and implements consistent, engaging brand voice in partnership across departments. Creates and posts video content for social media, website, and emails, including filming and editing video. Cultivates working relationships with local media outlets to improve reach of communications. Writes and edits content for use in press releases, social media posts, website, and email blasts. Researches social media, SEO, and keyword trends and implements best practices. Monitors current social media trends and adapts and implements trends for the City’s social media networks. Provides recommendations for maximizing social media advertising budget. Evaluates and implements social media practices and platforms, based on research and planning in a team environment. Collaborates across departments to create engaging and informative content for social media and website. Coordinates and edits department staff submissions for projects such as newsletters, social media posts, and website and provides feedback on improving content. Understands and researches email best practices to expand and improve the City’s email blast marketing campaign. Edits and sends email messages to database of users who have elected to join the City’s notification list. Seeks opportunities to collaborate with social media influencers and community partners. Understands, implements and improves accessibility, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, to allow assistive systems to work sufficiently for people with disabilities when accessing the City’s media outlets. Evaluate existing mobile applications to reprogram, update and add new features and content. Develops, tests, implements and maintains mobile applications. Troubleshoots system problems and issues and looks for ways to improve the applications. Performs related work as required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Provides support for the City TV station personnel during live broadcasts and recorded events. Provides advance promotional support for City events and projects to spur media interest in those events. Writes and distributes media alerts, press releases and produces video news releases for external media as a notification and promotional tool for the City. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires Bachelor’s degree in social media, marketing, communication, journalism, or a related field, and at least two years of social media coordination experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a driver’s license valid in the State of Florida.
