Job Description

Giusto is located at Hammetts Hotel in downtown Newport. The restaurant opened in 2019 and has started building a strong reputation for a quality dining experience as well as a great place to work. As the restaurant continues to grow we are looking for an Executive Pastry Chef to work directly with the Executive Chef Kyle Stamps and Chef/Owner Kevin O’Donnell in overseeing the pastry and bread programs in the kitchen. Giusto is open year round for dinner 7 days a week and lunch on the weekends. The pastry team at Giusto consists of a Pastry Chef, a Pastry Assistant and a dinner Pastry Plater. The cuisine at Giusto is “freestyle” Italian and draws inspiration from not only all regions in Italy but Rhode Island and our local products as well. Menus are typically a collaborative effort between all of the chefs but you will be directly responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food with minimal waste. Pastry Chef candidates should have at least 3 years of pastry assistant or pastry sous chef experience or a minimum of 1 year as the Pastry Chef in an upscale restaurant. Candidates should have an eagerness to learn and a passion to teach with a positive attitude. This position has a 5 day work week and an expectation to work an average of 50-55 hours per week. If you are ever asked to work a 6th day you will be compensated extra for that shift.
