For example, we provide clear communication and guidance to help chemical industries protect people and the environment while trading safely after Brexit.Job descriptionWe are recruiting a Head of News and Social Media in in our Corporate Communications Branch. This is a key leadership position in the team with responsibility for leading a team of highly skilled campaigners delivering a proactive, multi-channel media function for HSE. You will need to be able demonstrate excellent news judgment, strong leadership and the ability to form effective and productive working relationships with senior leaders inside and outside of HSE.Responsibilities * As the main media specialist for the organisation, you will lead the team to proactively promote HSE’s narrative through campaigns and PR opportunities, as well as respond to and rapidly rebut breaking news which could potentially damage the work and reputation of HSE.Managing an agile and effective social media function working in tandem with strategic communications to ensure alignment and consistency of tactical/strategic messaging.Responsible for leading HSE’s newsdesk operation, balancing the challenges of delivering a busy, reactive, day to day news service with proactively marketing, campaigning and PR activity to deliver results.Developing HSE’s relationship with its stakeholders to identify opportunities for greater advocacy for the organisation’s approach to regulation.Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Ministers, HSE Leaders, central government departments, private offices, special advisers, senior officials, journalists, stakeholders and No 10. Provide accurate and timely media handling advice and confident briefings.Lead on the development and implementation of media handling policies and guidance for the HSE.Constantly horizon scan related media, political, legislative and regulatory landscapes to ensure media issues are identified early, planned for and actively monitored. Identifying pro-active opportunities to promote HSE’s narrative through its operational activities where appropriate.Set the direction for HSE’s approach to media evaluation.
