The Digital Marketing Specialist – Social Media will be responsible for aiding in content creation, briefing content development and executing our paid social and digital campaigns. This role will leverage best practices, create content, manage the paid content calendar, execute campaigns, and measure results. This is a cross-functional role that will collaborate regularly with other business partners in marketing including marketing strategy, the creative team, and ecommerce. This role will leverage the marketing calendar to brief creative assets specific to various paid media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. The role will leverage many systems to manage the briefing and creative production, campaign development, and results measurement including media partners’ platforms as well as internally hosted systems like Adobe Analytics.
Major Activities
Channel & Campaign Strategy:
Work with Media Agency & Media Partners to determine content needs
Understand channel best practices, media unit types, and content opportunities
Determine proper ad units and content types to leverage to meet campaign objectives
Develop and manage content calendar across social platforms
Creative Asset Briefing, Campaign Development & Launch:
Leverage the Michaels Marketing calendar to determine the right campaigns and content needs by channel.
Brief campaign assets utilizing internal briefing system
Give feedback and approve creative assets developed by internal creative team or agency partners
Leverage internal and external platforms to create, test, and launch campaigns
Measurement, Insights & Reporting:
Leverage agency and partner tools to determine campaign performance
Derive insights about what’s working and what’s not through evaluation of creative messages and ad formats
Report regularly to media team leadership and marketing partners on campaign performance and learnings for next campaign. Â

Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
Understanding of digital content needs, digital campaigns and paid media.
Working knowledge of various media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok.
Ability to monitor, understand results, and apply insights to future campaigns
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
3+ years digital experience – agency or brand
3+ years marketing or retail experience
Other
Focus on digital customer experience and problem solving
Experience in Adobe Photoshop
Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills
Digital content, Media platform certification preferred
Preferred Type of experience the job requires
Experience with paid media platforms preferred
