Key Purpose

The Teaching Kitchen Chef is a champion, guardian, advocate, and ambassador for a food brand that inspires, while supporting the brand’s overall vision and mission.

The Teaching Kitchen is a central meeting place where our partners enjoy delicious food while meeting new colleagues. Our Chefs design and teach engaging curriculum with a global reach, both in person and virtually. Our ideal candidates have strong conversational and culinary skills, are tech savvy and comfortable on camera.

Teaching Kitchens are also integral to building team dynamics, while providing a framework for how food can impact well-being. Our culinarians are a core part of an evolving program that encourages them to learn, adapt, and expand their professional knowledge.

Help ensure the future success of class participants by expanding their knowledge about culinary techniques and ingredients
Coordinate with Teaching Kitchens across the globe as the overall food program continues to iterate and evolve

Key Accountabilities:

Create curriculum and teach culinary classes in person and digitally in accordance with global Teaching Kitchen standards; Classes are created with a focus on seasonality, plant forward cooking and multicultural awareness, coupled with a strong understanding of allergies, intolerances and overall sustainability
Develop, write and test recipes to ensure readability, quality and accuracy
Work with the Food Experiences Program Manager, Catering, and Marketing Team to promote and expand the Teaching Kitchen program
Partner with guests, Catering and the Cafe Team to plan and host team building experiences and sitewide events
Review class and attendance data to strategically plan curriculum for the quarter
Maintain NSF standards for organization and overall cleanliness of the Teaching Kitchen
Virtually attend all local, regional and global team meetings that pertain to the Teaching Kitchen
Accurately track and manage financials, including food cost, labor, smallwares, etc. to ensure the unit stays within the monthly budget
Train, mentor and evaluate the job performance of the Teaching Kitchen Assistant who reports to the Teaching Kitchen Chef
Ensure proper sanitation, organization and merchandising of the Teaching Kitchen at all times in coordination with the Teaching Kitchen Assistant
Must maintain ServSafe Manager certification and follow all company policies with regard to HACCP procedures and food and physical safety guidelines, including allergen management
Actively prepare and guard against accidents

Ideal Candidate Experience:

Previous experience teaching cooking classes to adults in person and/or virtually
Excellent English communication skills: verbal, written, editing, proofreading, and grammar
Engaging presence with an ability to interact while leading a global audience
Experience hosting recorded or live cooking classes on camera, including the skills to troubleshoot minor technical issues as they arise
Intermediate to advanced computer skills and knowledge of Google Suite applications
Strong organization, project management and hospitality service skills
Ability to gain credibility and manage key stakeholder groups
Collaborate and support cross-functional teams
Demonstrated financial acumen, including an understanding of the financial aspects of program, labor models and maintaining overall food costs
Ability to innovate and execute exciting and impactful new offerings within specific program guidelines

Physical demands and work environment:
Work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
Reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds
Utilize team lift, transportation carts, and any other means of assistance when dealing with heavy loads
Arrive at work properly dressed, according to the dress code
Employees should be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods
