Vacancy : Assistant Programme Manager Genomics
Company Location : Glasgow
Scottish Genomics Leadership Group (SGLG) provides leadership and expertise in the development of Scotland’s long-term genomic healthcare agenda. The group oversees the development and delivery of Scotland’s longer-term genomics strategy, implementation and action plans and reports directly to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.
Upon the recommendation of the SGLG the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care has approved the establishment of a strategic network for genomic medicine for Scotland to support the planning, finance and improvement of service change to achieve better patient outcomes and more efficient service delivery models.
A key initial priority is to develop and deliver a strategy for the implementation of 12 prioritised cancer testing pathways. To facilitate rapid delivery of this essential programme of works funding has been approved to support a dedicated service transformation team to agree the strategy and roll out a new delivery model whilst the strategic network is established. This will then transition to the strategic network team for day to day management.
The work of the transformation team will align with the ethos of the Realistic Medicine approach; strengthening the relationships between those who provide and receive care, and ensuring that people receive appropriate and beneficial care that is evidence-based and in line with their preferences. It is anticipated that the development of the strategy will enhance the impact of the existing and ongoing work.
National Services Division (NSD) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant Programme Manager to join a newly established transformation team who will be responsible for delivery at pace.
The post holder is required to lead on significant areas of work using a wide range of management and improvement tools and contribute to the development of the strategy and design of pathways and procedures, ensuring involvement from relevant stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an innovative team to deliver significant improvements in patient care.
Applicants will be experienced project management professionals and have knowledge and experience in a related field. The ability to work across traditional NHS Board boundaries and organisations is essential.
Candidates should be confident and self-motivated with experience of working in complex and challenging environments on high profile initiatives. Experience of service change in a healthcare environment would also be highly desirable.
Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
