All About You
The School for Professional Studies at Saint Louis University is seeking part-time adjunct faculty on an on-going basis to teach on-line courses in the Emergency Management / Homeland Security undergraduate degree, graduate and certificate programs that are offered on-line. Qualified applicants will be reviewed and placed in a pool to be contacted as openings become available.
Applicants must have extensive professional experience in one or more of the Program’s instructional areas. The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager CEM or AEM credential is preferred. All applicants must hold a Master’s Degree or industry experience equivalent.

Scientific Literacy (i.e HazWoper, or HazMat)
Geographic Literacy (i.e. GIS)

Technological Literacy (i.e modern technologies such as UAS), Incident Action Plan development)
Systems Literacy (i.e. processes development)
Extensive knowledge of FEMA and can instruct on operating within the EM Framework, Principles, & Body of Knowledge
Ability to instruct on Critical Thinking

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Demonstrate effective and varied on-line instructional practices with the assistance of the School’s Instructional Developer;
Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course outcomes, policies, assignments and evaluation criteria;
Create weekly introduction videos and lecture content;
Evaluate student performance in meeting course outcomes through assignments, projects, and discussion;
Participate in student discussion boards:
Provide feedback in a timely manner regarding student progress on course outcomes and assignments;
Respond to all emails, phone calls, questions and other inquiries in a timely manner (within 24 hours preferred, with 48 hours required);
Communicate all student concerns to the Program’s Academic Coach and Program Director, keeping them updated and aware of and/or involved with solutions.
Communicate all programmatic concerns to the Program Director for Emergency Management/Homeland Security
Saint Louis University requires COVID-19 vaccinations and a booster dose for all students, staff, and faculty who are physically present on our St. Louis campuses. As a prospective and/or a new employee at Saint Louis University, you will be/are required to comply with the University’s vaccination protocol. Proof of full vaccination is required before the start of employment in order to work at Saint Louis University. All adults over the age of 18 years who completed their vaccine series with Pfizer or Moderna at least 6 months ago.
