Major Duties
Under general supervision of the Manager of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable Travel and Tax, the Accounts Payable Representative ensures that invoices and payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner. The incumbent maintains and organizes open purchase order invoices; auditing invoices for the receipt of goods and performance of services.
Assembles documentation for vouchering via the on-line terminal; coordinating with external suppliers and internal customers (e.g., buyers and campus staff); running daily budget checks, posting vouchers and providing reports.
Ensures compliance with requirements from the State, IRS, Franchise Tax Board, and State Board of Equalization.
Audits the petty cash for the University Cash Services Department, reviewing and vouchering check requests from the Payroll Department, and other duties
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Equivalent to three years of full-time, progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience that has provided the knowledge and abilities listed OR any equivalent combination of college education in a job related field and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of financial record-keeping methods, procedures, and practices; arithmetic; and general office procedures.
General knowledge of governmental financial record-keeping methods. Ability and specialized skills to: review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards; compute and post figures rapidly and accurately.
Maintain files and records; identify, trace, and correct errors; follow directions; interpret and apply written rules and regulations; operate standard office machines; apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of complex accounting problems.
Review system queries for past due invoices; work independently; make sound decisions and recommendations regarding activities; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Classification / grade: 1741 / Accounting Technician II / 1
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3282 -$3750, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3282 – $5449 per month.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
