Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Accountant provides financial, accounting, and administrative support by processing, verifying, & reconciling account payable invoices, and ensuring payments are completed according to Race Forward’s established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner and to provide support and assist the department in general accounting responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Day-to-day Duties
Review all invoices and check requests for appropriate approval, accurate account coding and allocations
Enter invoices, debit memos, and check requests promptly in the accounting application
Produce weekly cash requirements report for review and approval
Prepare checks or ACH payments for approved invoices
Responsible for corporate credit card services and maintaining and updating expense policies
Own and maintain accurate subsidiary ledgers – accounts payable and fixed assets
Review vendor statements for accuracy, request any missing invoices from the vendor
Maintain vendor files and ensures W9 form is kept for new vendors
Review AP aging and address any anomalies or questions
Oversee all fixed asset record keeping, management, and processes
Monthly and Periodic Duties
Assist in the month-end closing activities
Prepare accrual/reversing entry for month-end closing
Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts, and research accounting issues
Perform bank reconciliations for all accounts
Process and review all 1099s
Support the annual audit process
Prepare schedules and reports as requested
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience
BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field or 4+ years related work experience, nonprofit experience a plus
Proficiency in Accounting Software and the ability to learn new applications quickly
Additional Information
Light work that primarily involves sitting/standing long periods of time but may include moving objects up to 20 pounds. Requires several consecutive hours on the computer.
